DO I NEED TO HAVE DNA RESULTS BEFORE BOOKING?

Yes — and for this consultation, AncestryDNA results are strongly recommended.

Ancestry’s database and match tools provide the most useful context for interpreting relationships and identifying realistic next steps during a one-hour strategy session.

If you have tested elsewhere or have not yet tested, we can briefly discuss whether booking now makes sense or whether testing first would be the better next step.

CAN YOU HELP ME WITHOUT ANALYZING MY DNA RESULTS?

Possibly — depending on the situation.

This consultation is primarily designed for interpreting DNA results and identifying next steps. In some cases, traditional records-based research may also be relevant.

During the consultation, we’ll determine whether DNA analysis, records research, or a combination of both makes the most sense for your specific case.

HOW LONG WILL THE PROCESS TAKE AND WHAT WILL I RECEIVE?

The call itself is one hour. I can't guarantee how long your actual search will take. Every search is different — some take weeks, others take months, depending on the strength of your DNA matches and how many you have.

After booking your Branch Detangler™ call, I’ll outline what’s realistic for your specific case so you know what to expect.

There’s no obligation to book additional services. You’ll leave the call with a clear summary of findings, family connections, and next-step recommendations you can use on your own.

WHAT IF MY CASE ISN'T A GOOD FIT?

That’s exactly why this is a strategy consultation. If I determine your case isn’t a good fit for this session, you’ll be refunded in full before the consultation takes place. If your situation requires a different approach, I’ll explain why and outline appropriate next steps.

Out of respect for privacy and emotional boundaries, I don't directly contact individuals on your behalf.

However, I can help you prepare for outreach, including how to approach sensitive situations with empathy, what to say (and what not to), and how to interpret personal responses.
